Before we called it skincare, we knew it as medicine.
In Haiti, a bain is a bath steeped from plants. Leaves and petals go into a pot, the water takes what they have, and it is poured over skin that needs soothing, brightening, or simply tending.
Orijin is that practice, formulated. Two three-step rituals, hibiscus to brighten and jasmine to calm, made for melanin-rich and reactive skin first rather than adapted for it afterward.
Kora watched the practice for years before she understood it was too precious to keep inside the family. She spent her career in innovation strategy and operations where she advised beauty brand conglomerates on their ingredient sourcing, and she is the reason the ritual left the kitchen without turning into something else on the way.
Flo grew up outside Port-au-Prince learning which plants heal and which restore. She became a nurse, licensed practical and then registered, and kept studying: more than a thousand hours in botanical medicine and clinical aromatherapy, a clinical aromatherapy certification, and years of practicing it on hospital floors. Every Orijin formula is hers.
